Ryan ONealRyan O’Neal has prostate cancer, but he expects to make a full recovery, People reports. “Recently I was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer,” O’Neal says in a statement. “Although I was shocked and stunned by the news, I feel fortunate that it was detected early and according to my extraordinary team of doctors, the prognosis is positive for a full recovery. I am deeply grateful for the support of my friends and family during this time, and I urge everyone to get regular check-ups, as early detection is the best defense against this horrible disease that has afflicted so many.”

Actor Ryan O’Neal has taken aim at talk show titan Oprah Winfrey for launching her OWN TV network prematurely, insisting she’s to blame for his unsuccessful reality show. In 2011, the 70 year old teamed up with his once-estranged daughter for Ryan and Tatum: The O’Neals, which they filmed for OWN, but, despite family drama, the program failed to take off and has yet to be renewed for a second season. He tells TMZ.com, “Nobody saw it. I don’t know if Oprah saw it.”

Ryan O’Neal is suffering from stage 4 prostate cancer. The actor, 70, who previously battled leukemia, made the revelation Friday night. “Although I was shocked and stunned by the news, I feel fortunate that it was detected early and according to my extraordinary team of doctors the prognosis is positive for a full recovery,” O’Neal told People. O’Neal, who lost his longtime love Farrah Fawcett to cancer three years ago, has a book coming out about their years together. Both of Us hits stores May 1.

In the late 1990s, Ryan had a high-profile battle with myelogenous leukemia. Ryan previously lost Farrah Fawcett to anal cancer in 2009. “Recently I was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer,” said the actor, who has successfully battled leukemia, in a statement released by his rep. “Although I was shocked and stunned by the news, I feel deeply fortunate that it was detected early and according to my extraordinary team of doctors the prognosis is positive for a full recovery,” the statement adds.
