Hunger Games

Hunger GamesHunger Games located in the Capitol in the future, where men and twelve girls to qualify in the fight against the death on live TV, Katniss volunteers Everdeen to his brother for the last few games.

This movie is a smart, barreling adaptation of the hugely popular young-adult novels that mash up gladiator-like death games with last night’s reality TV.

The Hunger Games: Girl on Fire, the iOS adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ breakout young-adult sensation, is now available for free on the App Store. As you’ll recall, Girl on Fire was developed by a Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young-esque indie-games supergroup captained by Adam Saltsman of Canabalt fame, featuring artwork by Super Crate Box’s Paul Veer and music by Super Meat Boy composer Daniel Baranowsky.

As it did with millions of other fans around the world, “The Hunger Games” trilogy completely captured my imagination. I picked up the books about a year ago and read all three in less than two weeks. And I don’t even read very fast! Of course, as soon as I caught word that Hollywood was turning the franchise into feature films, I had to hop online to do my research. I lapped up every bit of casting news and waited with bated breath to catch my first glimpse of the trailer. And when the trailer arrived, I made sure to share it with my fellow fans/friends who were just as diehard as me. Little did I know at the time that I played directly into the hands of the marketing team behind the film.

Film experts have long expected the Girl on Fire to set the box office ablaze, but the question of just how hot “The Hunger Games” will burn when it opens Friday continues to be a moving target. Early tracking numbers suggested the dystopian drama would earn about $70 million in its opening weekend
